Artist Statement
Some form of narrative seems to be the thing that unifies my artistic experiments. I enjoy walking the line between abstraction, illustration, and what I call ‘pop storytelling.’ My work is difficult to categorize; at the same time, one could simply call it “painting,” as it is essentially pigment on canvas. My deepest aspiration is to connect with others and share with them, while giving them the freedom to take from my work what they need.
I use traditional materials to reflect that my attraction toward organic
form, even though my subject matter often explores the sensation of
modern marvels in technology, entertainment and social politics. I don’t
see technology as “Humans vs. Machines” as much as a magnificent beast,
early in its awkward infancy. I see it as a manifestation of our own deepest
dreams, that is slowly melding with us and changing our perception of, and
place in, the universe for all time.
