Everyone is Asymmetrical

July 18, 2009 – 9:52 am

I tried some new things on this one.- verticality and cool tones. After having recently been “Blackberried” by my employer, I thought I’d also sneak in a little ode my new best buddy.

A Valuable Lesson

May 15, 2009 – 5:22 pm

Phew! A lot has gone on since my last post. Most notably, a reminder of the profundity of life and the many sublime patterns and laws that govern it.

Rest in peace, Meomumyu.

Doing it for the lulz xD

March 28, 2009 – 2:30 pm

The biggest issue on the public’s mind these days is the economy. People are losing their homes, modern day Hoovervilles are cropping up, and it’s easy to sense the unstable energy and raw nerves lurking just under the surface of day to day life. Therefore, I decided to make a little ode to this moment in time. I just hope the jokers that got us into this mess have learned a couple things. Right now, the joke is on us all.

Cloak Me In Pleebs

March 28, 2009 – 2:16 pm

The inspiration for this one was to just see what happens when I do a painting and listen to episodes of The Best Show on WFMU. Somehow I came up with this. Enjoy!

Super Sweet Indeed!

February 26, 2009 – 5:32 pm

I totes got published for the first time in a online British mag called “SuperSweet”!

I got to go all freak-out illustration style to interpret the essence of the work of fashion designer Craig Lawrence. The assignment was a perfect fit for what I do and couldn’t have been happier with the outcome.

Big Thanks to Choltida and the open-minded staff at SuperSweet.

LHC

January 1, 2009 – 1:44 pm

When my curiosity happened upon information regarding the Large Hadron Collider, I was smitten. After reading a number of things about it, and watching a rap about it on youtube, I still can barely explain what it does. However, I do know, it fascinates me. Along my journey researching this crazy contraption, I came upon many distractions of interest, some of which are noted in my painting.

NO U

December 2, 2008 – 7:36 pm

The mysteries of the universe revealed! The creation of man? Or is it just a certain precarious demi god I happen to lunch with regularly? Either way, my obsession with IM slang and ridiculous headlines continues.

This one’s partially inspired by those smooth talkers and fine line walkers I’ve run into during the course of my life as a romantic fool. Enjoy!

daf-2 vs. daf-16

July 12, 2008 – 10:54 am

The human genome is a wondrous thing. For this, my lastest completed foray into larger sized paintings, I was inspired by our tiny ubiquitous friends, daf-2 and daf-16. These two genes are thee two, out of the bijillion others we’ve got which comprise a helix, that are responsible for aging and regeneration (or youth). The way scientists describe it, these two genes are in a constant battle with each other for power over our individual aging processes.

Daf-2 tries to prevent aging while daf-16 is ready to get cozy with Sr. Grim Reaper. In this painting I deal with themes of life and death, insubordination, and what really ages a person- Starbucks, stress, corporate vampires, bird flu, only being sorry you got caught? Hmmm. Catch you on the flip!
